Commission for Dept of Conservation ( DOC) NZ

🍃 Commission for Dept of Conservation ( DOC) Thames. 🐌

100cm x 80cm~ Acrylic ink & acrylic

🐋 While the original painting will hang in the Thames / Coromandel Peninsula Doc office, the image of it will be used as a peep board / hole in the head board for promotion & events to raise awareness of our native forest but predominantly the Kauri tree & the effects of kauri dieback disease on this mighty tree.

The brief was to include Kauri, Tohora ( whale) , Ruru (owl) , Kereru ( wood pigeon) , giant weta & giant snail.
The words read:

“Just as kauri entwine with others to protect the health of the forest, we work together to protect our kauri lands for future generations.

He waka eke noa – We are all in this together”

( please feel free to google the relationship and story between the Kauri & Tohora its beautiful )

Another Large Commission to the Bahamas

This 4 piece painting , 2m x 2m is off to the Bahamas once done.

Each panel is 1m square.

My buyers live on a canal , and wanted all the colours of the water and sky. Their inspiration was my ‘Legend’ series.

I’m using acrylics and inks, and am about 3/4 way through at this point.

The second very large painting, (of three) has now been installed. A diptych (2 panels, each panel is 2.4m x 1m, so entire painting is 2.4m x 2m)) of New Zealand native plants and our native bird the Tui. This is on the second level of a 3 storey office block, in the internal stairwell.

Install: Painting 1- New Zealand Native Art- ‘Seabed’.

The first painting, of three, (2.4m x 1m) has now been installed on level one of the internal stairwell of the office block.

For those of you tha dont know, I got a contract to paint 6 panels, each 2.4m x 1m for the internal stairwell of a major city office block, the external wall being glass so will be able to be seen from the road.  It is all based around native New Zealand (where I live) so the lower level is seabed, the middle is native forest/bush and the upper will be NZ skies. First panel now complete. The next one is a diptych. and the final is a triptych.

Couldn’t be happier .

Commissioned Book Cover- Perfecting the Dance (now published!)

Well this is exciting!!
I was commissioned by the amazing Dr Nesha Jenkins-Tate to paint her a cover for her book. Perfecting the Dance.
(Published by Balboa, a subsidary of Hay House.)
A wonderful journey, from her telling me her thoughts and ideas, to me (with her input) coming up with this concept.
It flowed right from the start, most enjoyable and easy. Even the ‘figures’, that I thought i might struggle with, just ethereally placed themselves there and asked for no feet (LOL!!!) im serious…feet were NOT on the agenda.
Nesha knew exactly the colours she wanted, and i got that spot on first time round too. Thank you Nesha for this wonderful opportunity, im totally honoured to have been able to do this for you. 🙂 All the very best, its a fantastic book!

Book Cover

It is about constantly discovering something new about yourself while uncovering new ways to approach life’s twists and turns. And it isn’t a book about perfecting the dancer. It is a book about perfecting the metaphoric dance— navigating your way through life’s changes and challenges and learning how to transcend them through greater love, faith, and courage.Be enriched by these lessons about life and love that are essentially dance-lessons—powerful, practical reminders about how we can keep on dancing with life as it comes our way.
