I’ll have a longer, beginning to end vid coming soon.

I have been working on this piece below for a while, and Im not sure about it at all, slow progress is foreign to me and I would love to just paint over it, my rule of thumb in general is that if its not flowing fast, forget it, but there is a small niggle,,,, keep going, its going to be ok lol… so I am 🙂

June 12

I think Im coming to the end of my Shades of White series, well I mean my obsession with it, there is ALWAYS a few more that sneak out when I least expect it, but I feel another phase morphing its way over me and Ill been keen to see what happens next week in the studio! 🙂

Hope everyone has a great week!

Ciao!

Shades of White

well this series happened quite by ‘accident’ ….

I painted the background of #1 and then doodled a very fast design straight onto the canvas and painted the outline of it white, as I always do as a prep for the rest to come… the COLOUR, the signature ‘Reina colour’ 🙂 ……

I posted an ‘In Progress’ pic on my FB page and got an overwhelming response of: “its FAB as it is!!” … so, a new series was born…

this is the finished result of the first one:

#1 (18″ x 36″-for sale)

Orbs & Swirls….

Lifestream 1

(c) Reina Cottier Art 2013

This was a very quick doodle i sketched straight onto the canvas in about 3 mins

I was so excited about it I painted it immediately and the whole thing was done and dusted in about 2 hours.

Totally inspired by this ‘new’ thing i was doing, I decided to do something similar on a dark background:

As usual i have several paintings on the go at once, so while I was belting out the above, I was also working on these 2  which i completed:

It seems as though i am returning to my beginnings as far as my paintings go.

These latest ones are very similar to my first few paintings I ever did, and the ones i am working on right now are even more so.

….those will be in my next post 🙂

School holidays right now, so about to go away for a few days with the kids, back to normal next week.

Marching on…

When it is overcast outside and my studio seems a little dull and dark,i have this amazing industrial light that my partner put up for me,

its fantastic,  so light and bright and perfect for varnishing, can see any imperfections immediately.

so these three are what I have been working on for the last week or so,

Summer is so inspiring!!

Blogging via my phone today so please excuse any errors etc….
(thats me on the left up there with my good friend, we are at Big Bay, Manukau Heads, New Zealand)

So loving the summer feeling so inspired by everything around me. Nothing like the healing powers of sun on the water , or the brilliant hues of sunset being saluted by the obligatory glass of wine.
Its been school holidays here so painting has been in short intense spurts, a day here 2 days there, so everything comes put at once .

so here are a few things i find really inspiring….things like TURQUOISE i LOVE…

peacock shades and beautiful imagery…..

All of the paintings below are in progress…….

Nothing finished, 3 more started….

I got 3 more commissions this week, AND had already started some other paintings, for fun, so I have a whole pile of unfinished art at the moment, and lots of ‘endings’ to do. It IS like a story, a beginning a middle and an end. They are all calling out to me, and time is just not stretching far enough at the moment. Doesn’t help  that i decided to spend 2 weeks celebrating my birthday , and it doesn’t help that I have had the most ridiculous chest infection that has amounted to nothing and something all at the same time- *sigh*. just this silly little ‘cough, cough’ every 2 minutes, grrrr! Its FINALLY exiting my system, so next week (let s just relax this weekend with lots of lying around doing nothing- something Im not very proficient at) I will be back into it, fully committed and CREATIVELY OFF THE PLANET!

Painting for fun #1 below: (not finished)

(c) Reina Cottier

#2 is a similar one to another I did about a month ago and it sold before it was finished, I enjoyed it so much I did another one: (unfinished)

#3 Going back to my basics and REALLY happy to be doing that, finding myself again with my shapes and tones and shades, …makes me feel good: (unfinished)

There are more, but I dont want to overload the senses lol!

So I have 5 or 6 commissions to complete, ive now lost count, but never fear, I have it written down somewhere, and actually will refer to it at some point. The commisions I am doing are really exciting for me because they are people who I know well, and there is an ease and a flow about creating something for someone when you have that connection.

Next blog post will hopefully be some finished works!

Flow of Life

Acrylic on Canvas- © Reina Cottier and Reina Cottier NZ Artist, 2011.

A total JOY to paint this! It literally flowed out from within, was done in lightning speed, something that easy, that flowing that enjoyable is not a long laborious process. 🙂 Its thrilling when a piece comes together like this, literally no ‘thought’ what so ever,..all just heart/intuition/hands and paintbrush.

Once again, flowing beautiful shapes and colour, blend of colour is my inspiration.

Was sold before it was finished.

Kundalini

Acrylic on Canvas -© Reina Cottier and Reina Cottier NZ Artist, 2011.

When I did the background for this one, I knew I was thinking about the lower chakras, and the corresponding colours (above), intuitively I drew with pencil initially, the flowing cord shape you see, and it was a very simple and quick process, painting it all in took a little longer, but i loved the result, and it made me feel enriched, warm and full of life flow. Also a type of portal opens up with the yellow and the circle around it…. the ‘light’.

I was very reluctant to put this one up for sale, i was definitely emotionally attached to it, but i got over that reasonably quickly LOL! and its definitely for sale now.
