The big drawcard is the proximity to the North end of stunning Tairua Beach. A five minute walk and you are looking at the beautiful Pacific Ocean, and golden sand. Tairua is a well known beach for walking, surfing, SUP, swimming and snorkeling. (there are plenty of dangerous rips at Tairua  surf beach, pls talk to us before going in the water, we can advise best places to swim).

We have the best of both world, the surf beach with fabulous waves, or the inlet for calmer, shallower waters, ideal for children.

The nearest shops and cafes are a 3-4 min drive away. Pepe Park in town is great for the kids. Paku Mountain summit, for the fit, is about a 45- 1 hour walk. Exceptional views from the top, a MUST DO , even if you drive 3/4 way up and last 15 mins walk.
Nearby out of town attractions (drive): Sailors Grave Beach – 5min drive. Hot Water Beach -20 min drive. Cathedral Cove- 25 min drive to carpark, then 40 min walk. Whitianga is 30-40 min drive. Whangamata is a 30-40 min drive. Thames is 30-40 min drive. All these drives are mountainous/hilly. Definitely not to walk or bike.

Getting Around:
Ideally you will have your own vehicle.
Buses (you need to book!) go up the coast to the popular tourist attractions and main towns, and back. Bookings are essential! Please plan ahead to avoid disappointment. Hitchhiking is not recommended.
